Colin DeJong (b.1988) is a composer and pianist in Chicago, IL, where he is occupied principally as an accompanist for dance at several local studios. Colin is company pianist de facto at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and a faculty accompanist in the Hubbard Street Professional Program; at the Chicago High School for the Arts (ChiArts) he teaches Music for Dancers in addition to accompanying for the dance department; he also accompanies adults and children at the Joffrey Academy of Dance and the Lou Conte Dance Studio, and passed four summers as a pianist in the dance division of the Interlochen Arts Camp.
Before relocating to Chicago in 2012 Colin studied six years at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (Bloomington, IN), where he earned his MM in Music Theory and BM in Composition. His principal teachers were Jean-Louis Haguenauer and Ann Schein (Piano); Don Freund, P.Q. Phan, Claude Baker, Michael Gandolfi, and David Dzubay (Composition); Robert Hatten, Roman Ivanovitch, Julian Hook, Frank Samarotto, and Kyle Adams (Theory).
